238pp. + ads. The origins of "Madge Buford" are obscure. Peter Mendes (Clandestine Erotic Fiction in English 1800-1930, Aldershot: Scolar Press, 1993, entry no. 77) makes reference to an edition published at 'New Orleans' in 1892, citing an entry in the manuscript library catalogue of Nicholas Brown. A clandestine reprint was published at New York about 1931, while in 1968, Brandon House in California openly published the book in a compendium volume called Of Vice and Virtue, along with "Gus Tolman." The latter title, ascribed to William B. Le Fleure, was published at Paris in 1932 in a limited edition. (Description courtesy of Pat Kearney).
