DAVID OF CALIFORNIA - MODEL TODD DAVIS
David of California was a male physique photographer of the late sixties, whose fame and popularity peaked in 1968-1969. Though seemingly a flash in the pan, his work was highly esteemed in his time both by the buying public and by other photographers.
David's work tended towards the artistic. Almost all of his models were athletic with up-to-date hairstyles. They look fresh and contemporary, especially compared to the hustlers and drug addicts who tended to pose for hardcore pornography in 1971 on.
David never published a single magazine himself, but his work appeared first in strap-magazines like Fizeek by Guild Press. Later, his nude work was published mostly by San Francisco's Calafran, especially in the Boyography series, for which he got two covers.
